Auberge du Pommier

Diners outfitted in business casual relax in the care of expert servers. The menu doesn't offer many surprises, but what it does, it does well. Appetizers set a high standard, with dishes like creamy lobster and white-bean soup, and baked artichokes stuffed with French goat cheese. Entrees, such as pan-seared scallops with braised oxtail in a cabernet jus, keep up the pace.

Irish Embassy Pub & Grill

This frenetic after-work hang out in the heart of the business district offers traditional Irish pub food including the usual fried calamari and mild chicken curries. The house specialty is bison meatballs in a savory barbecue sauce and Irish lamb stew. This is a noisy bar filled with loud businessmen and Celtic music adds to the dissonance.

Chiado

The luxurious restaurant has marble floors, oil paintings, and fresh orchids. Servers are models, attentive without balanced. The menu favors seafood, from starters like grilled squid with roasted peppers to entrees such as poached or grilled salted cod. Fresh fish is flown in daily. The wine list includes many unfamiliar but rich and complex wines, most priced in the bargain range.
